Our friends at the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network (MFNN) invite all Indianapolis-area congregations to their Safety Net Training on August 20th in Indianapolis. We live in a time when polarization and extremism are growing. This is a tragic reality, but we believe that congregations, civic organizations, and other small groups are the perfect places to help identify growing polarization, and provide off-ramps to help move people towards peacefully living together with those they may have strong disagreements with. In order to help combat polarization and extremism, we have created SafetyNet - a training module, curriculum, and resources to help address this issue.

Safety Net was created by MFNN in partnership with Search for Common Ground and the Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab at American University to help put resources in the hands of congregational and civic leaders that help communities push back against polarization, extreme rhetoric, violence, and more. In a time when division and polarization are increasing, we want to provide tangible resources that will equip you to lead your congregation or civic organization to peacefully push back and help prevent polarization from growing.

At this training, you will receive assistance about how to use this resource in your local context, as well as both physical and digital copies of the curriculum to use. We want to make sure you go home with tangible resources that will benefit your local community.

The specific information is below. Registration is absolutely free, and includes both breakfast and lunch, but please register for each person who is planning to attend so we can have the appropriate food prepared. Food will also be provided that will honor everyone's particular dietary needs.

Who should attend Safety Net Training? The curriculum is intended for congregational, organizational, or civic community leaders to use in their local context. The training itself will explain the curriculum, and train leaders to lead the curriculum in their local setting.
