This semester, in partnership with the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance, the Housing Law and Policy project of Notre Dame is going to tackle affordable housing in the State of Indiana by looking at ways to incentivize new affordable and middle housing developments. First, we will look at what affordable housing looks like for Hoosiers: what is affordable? We will then analyze data on the construction of affordable housing over the past several years and look at ways the State of Indiana and other states/municipalities have tackled this issue. We will consider what barriers prevent investors from constructing new affordable housing and what issues lead to lower and middle class Hoosiers from being priced out. Ultimately, we hope to provide a comprehensive look at affordable housing in the State of Indiana, including the issues associated with the lack of affordable housing, why there isn’t more, and what can be done to solve this issue.
Join us December 3rd, 1p at Lutheran Child & Family Services of Indiana/Kentucky to hear the students present their finding
