Thursday May 15 is the LiveFree rally ahead of the May 29th public action. We are excited to bring our leaders together, brief members of our movement on our demands, provide updates on the elected officials, and create some tension with elected officials. 

As of this email, Council President Vop has agreed to attend in some capacity but has not clarified his commitments to all of our demands. We do anticipate an answer by Thursday. Meanwhile, the Mayor has not responded to repeated attempts at an invitation. In a political moment when our community deserves real leadership, avoiding engaging movements like ours and the demands of everyday people cannot be acceptable. 

When we gather on the 15th, we will strategize and execute an escalation plan to ensure our elected officials are in the room for the 29th. Our leaders must also be in the room with us on May 29th. We are not where we need to be without our turnout. Thursday’s Rally will be critical, and helping make a big push to achieve that.
