Multifaith Clergy and People of Faith Gathering at Miami Correctional Facility for 11th Prayer Vigil for our Immigrant Neighbors
You are invited to join clergy, congregational leaders and people of faith from around the state of Indiana at the 11th Multi-Faith Prayer Vigil for our immigrant neighbors hosted by the Episcopal Church, the Dioceses of Indianapolis and Northern Indiana on Monday, June 29th, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Miami Correctional Facility near Bunker Hill, IN.
Faith leaders continue to be deeply concerned about the state of the facility now being used to detain immigrants. “It’s no secret that the conditions at Miami are abhorrent, absolutely inhumane, unforgivable, really,” said Sarah Burrow, a director at Lewis Kappes and lead of the firm’s immigration law group. We understand the importance of security and safety and the enforcement of just laws. But what is happening behind us has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with cruelty and xenophobia all hiding behind the façade of “good business” and making money for the state.
This gathering will include readings, songs, prayers, and statements from across faith traditions calling for dignity and justice for immigrants and refugees. It is our task to call it how we see it and we will continue to do that until ICE Detentions stop here at Miami Correctional facility.
We will stand in prayerful solidarity with the immigrant communities and call attention to the urgent need for humane treatment of all people.
