Barb Williams

Volunteer Coordinator

Barb has been involved in the Indianapolis community, specifically working with the homeless community as well as other social issues affecting those who live in the Greater Indianapolis area. She worked with HUD and local city officials during the COVID response in 2019. She started her advocacy work at Family Promise while developing an AfterCare program for those families recently housed to ensure their sustainability. One of her proudest achievements was being recognized with the David Moreau Advocacy Award in 2019.

Barb is actively involved in her parish at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her ministry includes immigration, housing affordability, and visiting those shut in and homebound. In addition to local parish activities, she has been accepted as a student in the Associate Program at the Provident Sisters in Terre Haute.   

Barb currently lives in Irvington and is the proud mother of 3 children and 10 grandchlldren. She is very much looking forward to working with GIMA and all of the advocacy projects scheduled for the coming year.

She is happiest on a trail hiking anywhere but especially in the Smokies and sitting on the water in a kayak.
